Giovanni VS Magnus: Chapter 1: Quests: 1-3

Salutations and all that bubbly stuff!

Zynga has a new update for us as they gear up to roll out February's Valentine's Day event. It's going to be a long one. In-between the mini-quest for Giovanni's Contraption will be rolling out slowly to players. If you get it, try your best to complete it for those extra workshop boosts. We will need as many as we can get!
This is why you shouldn't argue when you're smashed over tea...wait, what?
Things of note:

We are working toward earning 5 Trail Kitchen boosts.

Players must be Level 17 and have both Giovanni & Magnus unlocked.

Some of the crafted event items will not show up in your vault. Instead they are placed in a invisible storage place and won't add to our vault space. Make sure that if you are hunting a particular event item that you have the corresponding quest active.

Don't toss out event items. You'll need some of them later on for various quests.

If you've already completed a quest then press 'repeat' on that quest to re-activate it.

This is a time limited quest. We have a few days per quest to complete each step. In total, it will be about 12 days in all.

The quest is broken up into various chapters that unlock over time. There is a countdown timer on the progress bar to see how much time is remaining to complete all of the quests. Unfortunately, if you do not complete all of the quests before the time runs out, you will not earn the 5 boosts for the kitchen.

Let's get going!

Chapter I: Quest 1 - A Tinkerer’s Wit I of VI
Yay Kitchen boosts x5!
As you long into the game(and meet the requirements mentioned above in the notes) a brief introduction will appear. Click on the big blue button to begin.
Gio, go ahead and be smug now if Magnus hasn't seen a star telescope.
Our first set of goals are at hand. We need to craft 7 lava hammers, send Giovanni off on an adventure, and gather Adamant ore.

In order to craft the lava hammers you need a gadget shoppe

Each lava hammer requires:
2 brass Ingots (From Giovanni's house)
3 Logs
1 Hour crafted time for each
===============
In total:
14 brass ingots
21 logs
7 hours of crafted time
Two mines, one for gold and one for crowns.
Head to your Market and then click on the 'apple' tab. There are two Adamant mines, one for 750 gold which is the Grey Adamant Mine and the Superior Grey Adamant Mine that is purchased with 10 crowns. I've bought both - the difference is in the ore and time to acquire ore.

Tip: The regular mine gives 3 ore in 1 hour and the Superior mine gives 4 in 45 minutes. A player can have both mines at the same time.
Seriusly Magnus? Are you a wizard living in the stone age....
Anyone getting a wiggling feeling that our subjects (Magnis, Yvette, etc) are not technologically advanced? It's a good thing Giovanni came to our kingdoms. We need him!

Okay, craft your hammers(trade with Alliance or buy from Global market), gather your ore(don't forget to buy in the Global market or trade with your Alliance) and send off Giovanni to the Gateway of Luck. No worries about who to send off with him as there is nothing to collect at that Place of Legend. First task complete!

Chapter I: Quest 2 - A Tinkerer’s Wit II of VI
Oh boy, you're overdoing it again, Giovanni.
Second quest tasks are here! We need to hunt down a Molten Bolt that is found at Mount Cinder. Meanwhile, we also have to craft 3 Molten Rivets at the Gadget shoppe. One more thing, we need to send Giovanni back to the Gateway of Luck.
No need to craft or gather extra materials for these things. Sweet!
Molten Rivets need to be crafted x3. You'll find these at your Gadget Shoppe alongside a nice surprise. If you have been gathering Adamant Ore and have your Lava hammers crafted - all you need to do is combine them!

In order to craft the Molten Rivets you need a gadget shoppe

Each Molten Rivet requires:
4 Adamant Ore
1 Lava Hammer
30 minutes crafted time per Molten Rivet
======
In total:
12 Adamant Ore
3 Lava Hammers
1 Hour and a half of crafted time
Is it me or is Gio gleefully smacking Yvette in the face while Blue Pegasus is like, I saw nothing!
A trip to Mount Cinder is in order. Giovanni has the best chance of finding a Molten Bolt. Place whomever else you want with him. I have been experimenting with all pairs and have found that as long as Gio is in the mix with two others -- the green circle is at 98% drop rate.
Giovanni, I told you to be smug from the start didn't I? Geez...he never listens!
Congrats on completing Quest 2 of the first Chapter. Get ready, the next part is going to be time-heavy at two particular parts. Let's move on, we're on a timer!

Chapter I: Quest 3 - A Tinkerer’s Wit III of VI
Wait what? What does carrot soup have to do with this Gio?!
We're on the last stretch for Chapter I. Time is ticking so let's get down to it. For these tasks we are going to craft Carrot soup(Either Giovanni is a glutton or it's an odd glue for the telescope base) send Giovanni in a sight-seeing adventure at the Well of Wishes, and finally complete the base for our star-seeing telescope.
Hopefully you haven't sold all those parts we've collected/crafted...
I mentioned a bit of a time gulper and here is the first of it. Building the telescope base will take 6 hours of crafted time. The parts are those we have been collecting/crafting up to this point. If you've sold off your materials then back to Mount Cinder and the Adamant mines you go.

In order to craft Telescope base you need a gadget shoppe

One Telescope base requires:
4 Adamant Ore
1 Molten Rivet(4 adamant ore, 3 wood logs)
1 Molten Bolt (Found at Mount Cinder - Giovanni has the best drop rate)
30 minutes crafted time for the Molten Rivet

Send off Giovanni to the Well of Wishes is another time consumer unless you have Fast Foot spells to speed you along. Don't forget to remind your fellow Royals that both Quick spells and Fast Foot spells are always needed and appreciated! Don't worry about having a perfect combo with this send-off. There is no particular item we are hunting here so pick who you like to pair off with Giovanni.
/facepalms so hard
And with this we've completed the first chapter of the Giovanni VS Magnus Event. I'm a bit surprised at the 'Fat Momma' joke being tossed out by Magnus but I suppose when pride is on the line; the kid gloves are on! (*walks off mumbling about Magnus being an internet troll...*)

Week One Award:
Hurray, a gold lock!
While we await the new quests we are awarded with golden lock for our efforts. Don't forget to work on the bonus quest that awards 8 crowns as well. It's a pretty simple one that doesn't require too much time or effort.

Until the next guide/walk-through -
Happy Playing from
-Masaya of Castleville Legends
