Byron's Capture: Chapter One - Quest 1 Guide

Byron's Capture: Chapter One - Quest 1 Guide
Sigh, what a mess but the egg is safe finally!
Hail Kings and Queens of CastleVille Legends! A lot has been happening in our kingdoms since the arrival of Prince Byron of the Eastern Kingdoms had arrived.
Egg stealing Prince..why Bryon, why?
Not only were we charmed by his good looks and princely manners, but he took us for fools as he blatantly stole a dragon's egg from the Dragon's Clutch. The Hunt for Byron was on!
Why Leif, where the heck have you been lately?
A huge search was issued forth as we sent our our Heroes of Legend to find Byron. Marigold a bronze dragon, also lent us a hand to search for Bryon and the missing dragon egg as we searched the Grove for clues to where Byron was hiding. Not long after we snared the Prince of lies and now we are about to bring him to justice.

Overall Objectives
A basic list of what we will be doing overall.
Our skeletal look at what we'll be doing over the course of Quests 1-4 of  Byron's Capture.
The prize, the reward, yaay!
A look at what we'll be working toward getting - a magical chest that Magnus created for a chance at crowns, gold, and experience.
You know, I'm pretty sure Byron had an army with him....
All in all the CastleVille Legends team has given us a very comfortable and casual-friendly quest this time around. Which is great, we could use a fun and friendly quest. Let's get started!

Byron's Capture: Chapter One - Quest 1
Poor Byron, good intentions gone bad.
Thankfully, the tasks we need to accomplish are nice and relaxing. We are going to craft basilisk bandages, toss pies at Byron(*says in her best Spartan voice*)This.Is.CaaastleViiiiille! And collect a dusty spyglass for...reasons. What those reasons are I have no clue either.

Basilisk Bandages
Plain Bandages = 3 Wool, 1 minute to make per bandage.
Before you start crafting be sure to check the Global Market often as most players like to throw these up for sale.  If none available it's not a problem to craft these up in no time. Pop over to the Weaver to begin. For each basilisk bandage we will need 4 basilisk scales and 2 plain bandages.

So in total we will need the following materials:  24 Wool and 16 Basilisk scales.

Tending Byron
Byron is not looking happy here is he now?
Time to open up our Marketplace. In the Featured Tab at the very top you'll find a very unhappy looking Byron in Stocks for 100 gold. Snag him and place him onto your kingdom. In order to get a confession from him we will need to bring it out with pies. Yes, pies. This is CastleVille justice!
Oh cream pie made with ghost chili peppers so delish...wait, wut?
Over in our Bakery we can cook up a Cream Pie with cream, butter, and ghost peppers. We can blame the ghost peppers on Rafael. He's a crafty man wanting a confession and what better way than bringing a Prince to tears with a pie of justice? Ok ok....that's corny, even for me.

Buttercup the sassy dragon

Here's a tip: If you have Buttercup(She becomes available at Level 23 for pearls) than send her off to the Gateway of Luck with another Hero of choice. She'll bring back cream each time. This way you can use your milk to focus on cooking the butter at the Dairy. Send her off a few times to stock up on cream. We will need to tend to Byron quite a few times by the end of Quest 4.

Ghost Peppers are harvested from the Volcanic pepper field

The Ghost peppers are harvested from the Volcanic pepper field. It's the one that has red hot chillis on the right side of the picture above. Don't use Quick spells on this field. It's a short timer and the drop rate of the peppers is quite decent.
Sorry Bryon but you brought this on yourself. :<
Once you have 3 Cream pies cooked up and ready its time to toss them at Byron. The reward is the 'Confession' of Byron. Keep cooking those Cream pies. At the end of Quest 4 you will need to have 3 Confessions out of him in total.

Dusty Spyglass
2 ladders and 3 torches to explore here
Gather up your materials as it's time to explore the Well of Wishes. It's a long wait but the drop rate of the dusty spyglass is 100% with any combination of Hero that you use.

Author note: The original 100% drop rate has now been stealth nerfed by Zynga. It is now about 67% for the dusty spyglass to drop from exploration.
Not a great haul but it'll do
Here, I'm using Rafael and Yvette as an example. The dusty spyglass will drop with any two Heroes that you send. The wait is a long one and it can be left for over-night or use Fast Foot spells to speed up the process.

Quest Complete
A Prince in Stocks...how the Prince has fallen.
The first time we toss pies at Byron we receive a confession. He states that he stole the dragon egg in order to help protect his kingdom from a mysterious power. Unfortunately, he's also not being very open about who that mysterious power is or why he chose to pretend to be a friendly emissary to our kingdom. In reality, all he had to do was ask us for help, but Byron chose to use deception.

Our reward for the quest completed is an Archaeology Kit. Good, we are going to need a few of these by the end of Quest 4. The less we have to craft, the better. Speaking of which -- start on crafting lava hammers. We are going to need at least 12...

Sneak Peek at Chapter Two
Rafael is smug as always.
Alongside our initial quest is a sneak peek at how Chapter Two will run. Rafael is a bit smug that he always suspected Byron but honestly the man was rather jealous of the Human Prince. Not that we can really blame him. Yvette was less than transparent about her intentions with Byron.
A complex prison for one person..hmm..
What we are going to be doing is making a prison to hold Byron. A thing to note about this is that the Building Materials won't become available to craft until the second part of this quest opens. Remember this is a sneak peek and will become the first part of Chapter Two. Until then, we have a few days to gather the materials.
Anyone will do so long as it's two people
Send off a pair of Heroes to the Gateway of Luck to gather the blueprints. The drop rate is about 95% so there is a chance one of the trips might not bring back a blueprint. Keep sending your pair off until all blueprints are gathered.
Possible outcome with Bluebelle and Rafael
The blueprints are just one of the materials we will need to gather. The second is the base for the building materials. You can already start collecting 'Brick and Mortar" at Mount Cinder. Go ahead and send off three Heroes to begin searching for it. Now the drop rate on Brick and Mortar is about 75% with a high chance to not bring back anything. If you have Fast Foot spells to spare it would be great to use them at this point.

However, until the second part opens up we won't know for certain how many Brick and Mortar we will need. Still, it's good to get a leg up on this second part right?

Good luck and as always, Happy Playing!
