News Roundup: Zynga Closures and More

News Roundup: Zynga Closures and a push toward Mobile games
Zynga headquarters at Nighttime
Hi everyone,

today I'm bringing you a round-up of the news circulating around the net in regards to everything Zynga as well as CastleVille Legends. Everything is related to how things trickle down from the Zynga team straight to our game. From closures, to the Great Egg Hunt, customer support, and a silly April Fools day joke. Get up to date with the news roundup!

Zynga Closes down Various Games
List of Games closing down
Zynga is closing down various Facebook games as they make a steady move toward mobile gaming. The list of games is shown in the picture above. Please note, that when you see the 'Castleville' game title it is not referring to the CastleVille Legends game.

This closure is part of a grand plan to push toward mobile gaming as the CEO is currently roasting in the proverbial frying pan.

Zynga's CEO is under fire
About two years ago, Don Mattrick, took over from Zynga founder Mark Pincus. Today, the company still continues to struggle as they transition to the trend toward mobile gaming and away from gaming on social-networking sites like Facebook. However, a prominent Wall Street analyst(Richard Greenfield) has called for Mattrick to be "terminated" following disappointing fourth-quarter earnings results. Greenfield criticized Mattrick for spending time and money on finding the next big blockbuster at the expense of the company's "core franchises," as well as rushing out games and not properly testing games before launching them.

NaturalMotion comes aboard the Zynga train
This has lead to several games being shut down as well as the acquisition of NaturalMotion. A company well known for special effects & technology as seen in movies like Lords of the Rings. You can see what they are now working on for Zynga HQ with their new mobile game - Empires & Allies

April Fools Day Joke - Hazel's Return
One day, her realm will really be open for us to explore
Every year on the first of April various jokes, harmless pranks, and hoax stories are shared across the world. April Fools Day is not a national holiday but it's pretty well known. My contribution was a fake 'sneak peek' at Hazel's Return to CastleVille Legends. It's been promised to us so many times it really seems to be a joke that it will ever be released. We still hold hope! And speaking of which, I do hope that you enjoyed the parody article as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Zynga Support Page Changes Again
Missing CVL graphic
The Zynga support page has changed again as new graphic icons of their newer games appears to take the place of less popular ones. Note that CastleVille Legends is no longer one of the main featured games any longer.
Oh there you are...almost hidden really
Seems that our CastleVille Legends game title has been moved below into the 'other games' category section alongside quite a few of the game titles that are being shut down on April 30th. Please don't read too much into that because I believe it simply means that Castleville Legends is not as popular or isn't being featured/promoted as much as their newer mobile games.

And that's a wrap for this News Roundup. Happy gaming!
