Magnus' Mystery Crate Walk-through: Legend of the Cursed Fog

A peek at the different panes in the new Halloween window

Zynga has a new update for us that brings a Halloween glass shard limited quest. This time the lore is about a cursed fog that is threatening to overcome our kingdoms. Our role is to help Magnus find the various Halloween shards to learn more about the cursed fog.

Things of note:

This is a time limited quest. Zynga states we have 7 days but the truth is we have only 5 left to us. Don't fret, I have some tips to help you zoom through this within two days on a very casual level.

A player must be level 17 or above in order to qualify for the crate quest.

A player needs to update to the new versions of the game(Unity player will update on its own) which can be found at these links(depending on which device you have):

Why hello new quest!

Just when you thought boredom and lack of quests for Halloween were about to nip you in the bud; Zynga rolls out an update! If you are level 17 or higher a pop-up alike the one above will appear. Click on the button.

Zynga really wanted us to have 7 days but they slacked a little on the debut.

A second window will appear. This one shows you the various parts of the crate quest. Although it may appear daunting at first glance it's actually pretty straight-forward in execution. The method of acquiring the shards is the same as the other glass shard quests we've been receiving in the past.

In this case we are sending Rafael or Magnus to Places of Legends to find the Halloween glass shards. We have five days to find them all. There is also a progress bar on the bottom of your screen to help show your progress.

Click on the blue button again to be taken to the Hall of Heroes.

Don't pity my lack of progress. I play five different games and write blogs for two of them.
Time is never on my side! 

Here you'll be given a look at two things; the first is the Halloween mystery crate quest. The second is the bubble to the right of the Legend of the Cursed Fog. Do you see the purple icon with a question mark? We are getting another glass shard quest very soon.

Back to the task at hand. In total we will need to collect 15 Halloween glass shards.

The Butterfly Oracle

Fast and uses only 2 Fast-foot spells to speed along further

As to the question to where to send Rafael and Magnus to then look no further than the Butterfly Oracle. When you place both Magnus and Rafael the circle around the Halloween glass shard is less than half-way. However, the odds are actually better. Sending Magnus and Rafael there won't guarantee a shard but it does give you a shard every other time and at a fast pace. Using this method I am 1 away from being completed within half of a day.

This place of legend is available at level 23. You will need 6 heroes to send and the time duration is only 1 hour.

Supplies Needed:
1 Dragonwing Potion
1 Rose Petal
1 Jasmine Flowers

Here is where your Fast-foot spells come in handy. As you can see in the above picture it only requires 2 FF spells to speed the dungeon along.

Alternatives: The Dragon Ruin

If it happens to be that you are level 17-22 and have no access to the Butterfly Oracle the next bet is the Dragon Ruin. In this case you want to pair Magnus and Yvette as together they provide better odds at gaining a shard. Also choose the Dragon Ruin if you have in real life tasks to complete as the odds of getting a shard are better in the long run.

Spoiler Alert! Conlusion: The Completed Window

Warning: Don't look further below if you want to keep the completed window a surprise for when you finish the mystery crate.

The Rewards:

Once you have collected all 15 Halloween glass shards the completed quest will reward you with several goodies.

A new Beehive - it will come in handy for the next event

The mystery crate is revealed and we receive a beehive from Magnus, gold pearls, and crowns! Now you also get a surprise gift as well in the form of crowns, black pearls and gold. It's a very nice gift package for the amount of playtime put into this quest.

A fun bit of lore indeed.

In the story it's mentioned at the end that the mysterious fog will return. I imagine the enchanted figure will play a future part in our kingdom as well.
